Issues
There are several areas and issues for which I am already working on for Hideout. My major goals start with:
- Putting an end to legal fees that consumed $398K (22% of your Hideout tax dollar), which is 8 - 10 times what our neighboring communities spend
- Put some of these savings into developing Ross Creek recreational amenities, a community center area, and a decent place to eat
- Maintain a ceiling on future residential growth when it compromises our views
- Commit to everyone having a voice in their community, not just a chosen few
- Build a fresh perspective, emphasizing balanced growth
In addition, the following are issues and challenges that I am currently working on for Hideout:
- Completing our vital water study
- Continue to work with the Richardson Flat – Silver Meadows Annexation project which will be a prime source of revenue for the town while providing a place to shop and have a meal
- Continue our efforts for the Ross Creek site so that we have the opportunity for recreational retail (perhaps like a White Pine Touring) and additional open space that the town controls including acquisition of lands in a public-private partnership. This area can also easily support a community center and recreational area for Hideout given its central location
- Working to make our town, streets, and SR 248 safer
- Protecting our viewsheds and keeping our property values high
- Continuing our efforts for open space, trails and recreational amenities
- Building a fire-wise community protecting us from potential wildfire dangers, while working to keep property insurance accessible and affordable
- Maintain fiscal responsibility including optimizing our sources of funds including incorporating more grant writing
- Being more of a regional participant and force, and building bridges to our surrounding communities which hopefully result in more cooperation and fewer disputes
Lastly, I want to create more transparency with you, our residents. To that end, on Tuesday July 29, from 4:00 - 5:00 PM, I will be initiating the “mayor-hour” where residents can schedule a 10-15 minute call with me to discuss your ideas, input, and hot topics. Please refer to the Hideout town website for sign-up times.
I look forward to building a shared vision for Hideout and feel free to reach out me at ralphforhideout@gmail.com or leave a message for me at 435-731-4048
